Representatives from State Controller John Chiang’s office, along with United Way staff and community volunteers, joined to provide free income tax preparation services at YMCA of Wilmington.

Gang Alternatives Program (GAP) provided laptop computers and the use of their mobile technology van <– very cool!  The day could not have happened without their partnership.  This is the only free income tax preparation site in LA County with it’s own satellite dish.

Special thanks to the Orange County Chapter of the Financial Planners Association, IRS, Long Beach Community Action Partnership, and YMCA staff for all their help and support to make this event extra special.

United Way CEO Elise Buik, joined by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, State Controller John Chian, Council President Eric Garcetti participated in the launch of the EITC Campaign at El Centro del Pueblo.  El Centro del Pueblo is one of 21 FamilySource Centersproviding free income tax preparation through April.

EITC Campaign which helps low-income, working families get their taxes prepared for free and claim refunds up to $5,657.
